STRATEGIC BUSINESS COMMUNICATIONS

Provide communications services to a government-wide IT implementation project
Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC), a federal government department, administers public service pay and pension benefits. As the administrator of the Phoenix Pay System, it has a requirement for both accurate and timely communications to the Pay Centre and federal departments.

Solution
  • Assist PSPC in the ongoing development of communications and supporting materials to be distributed within the Pay Centre and to federal government departments.
  • Draft new or update existing communications documents, including job aids, emails, release notes, tips & tricks, fact sheets, webinars, and briefing packages.

Research and write strategic analysis documentation

Animal health issues within the Canadian livestock sector prompted the federal government to support the industry in the establishment of a multi-species farm-to-slaughterhouse tracking and tracing system. An initiative was launched to create the Canadian Livestock Identification Agency to oversee development and delivery of species-specific animal identification and traceability programs and provide comprehensive, scaleable services for livestock identification.

Solution
  • As lead researcher, analyst, and business writer, collaborated with internal and external stakeholders to produce a project plan, business case, implementation plan, and public website
  • Led initiatives to conduct environmental research scans, capture and codify lessons learned and best practices, and analyze/assess their suitability to the Canadian experience
  • Implemented and moderated on-line collaboration tools to facilitate interaction among project stakeholders
  • Created and maintained all documentation and reference materials in support of the activities of stakeholder working groups

Provide research and writing services
The Chronic Disease Prevention Division was established within the First Nations and Inuit Health Branch of Health Canada to address the increasing incidence of non-communicable chronic disease among Aboriginal people. It was seeking consensus among a broad group of internal and external stakeholders on a national prevention strategy based on a public health model. The objective was to build consensus for a business case for funding to develop prevention programs and increase regional capacities to address the chronic disease challenges facing Aboriginal Canadians.

Solution
  • Provided research and writing services in support of efforts of regional representatives to communicate the scope and nature of problems to client and community groups
  • Designed and developed presentation materials

Produce strategy reports
The client was a federal agency which was developing and implementing a new business strategy. It conducted workshops to exchange information on the progress of implementation and the challenges and opportunities. These sessions also provided a forum for information sharing, discussion and collaboration on approaches to ongoing implementation of the strategy.

Solution
  • Attended the sessions and captured the discussions
  • Wrote consultant reports summarizing the proceedings of the sessions
