Guided Learning
Guided Learning is a concept in training that involves the adaptation of critical business information into self-contained learning guides using proven adult learning principles. Guided Learning uses an easy-to-follow and entertaining writing style that engages and stimulates learners, producing superior results for those needing to transform dry, technical information into vital, practical knowledge.
The Guided Learning model originally arose from a need to develop training for clients who were both geographically dispersed and experientially diverse. Tim was a member of a collaborative team that addressed this need by designing and developing a suite of guided learning products that let clients learn at their own pace and place. Learners can use the guides at their desk, working and learning at their own pace; in a classroom setting, serving as a teacher's guide and participant manual; or both.

The Guided Learning Product Line
Knowledge in a Book is for proprietary guidelines that are strategic, widely impacting, and critical to business continuity. Examples of this kind of content include liability policies, public relations guidelines, and human resources directives. Often these are convoluted, full of jargon, and scattered all over the organization. Knowledge in a Book presents this information as a reference guide that is consistent, accessible, enjoyable to read, and actually going to be used.
Coach in a Book is for task-specific procedures that are hands-on, sequential, and key to business operations. Examples of this kind of content include software skills, diagnostic procedures, and maintenance routines. This type of information is typically unintuitive, poorly documented, and therefore not being learned. Coach in a Book presents this information in the form of an instruction guide that is easy to understand, fun to work with, highly motivating, and a boon to productivity.
Teacher in a Book is for industry-related principles that are of general purpose, the basis for analysis, and vital to task assessment. Examples of this kind of content are medical theory, liability concepts, and engineering models. This type of information can be hard to grasp, tedious to learn, and not clearly relevant. Teacher in a Book presents this information in the form of an assessment guide that is coherent and comprehensible, refreshingly entertaining, a catalyst for problem-solving, and applicable in the real world.
Guided Learning is retainable and sustainable. And it sticks.
